Programs

Program A is an exchange program through which UMAP participating institutions send and receive up to two students with tuition waivers each semester.

Program B is a negotiated bilateral exchange between two institutions that have agreed to exchange more than two students per semester.

Programs A and B follow a timeline that has two application cycles. Programs that are open for application only during the early or First application cycle are marked with .

Programs that are open for application only during the late or Second application cycle are marked with .

Programs that are open for application during both early/late or First and Second application cycles are marked with .

Program C consists of short-term programs of one to eight-weeks, for which tuition may be charged.

Virtual Programs are offered entirely online and may include both short-term and semester-long programs.

Douglas College - English Language & Canadian Culture Immersion Program

Spend a month in beautiful British Columbia learning English and immersing yourself in Canadian culture while exploring the province! The program will be from August 3rd - August 28, 2026. English classes will be taught in the morning with different culture workshops, field trips and outings in the afternoon. You will be able to make the most of British Columbia's unique blend of urban and natural beauty with tours throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and various nature trips to parks, beaches, and more! Douglas College's campuses are located within minutes of bustling Downtown Vancouver and some world-class mountains.  Check out the different tabs in this brochure for more information. Program Highlights -3 hours of English Language each morning covering a variety of topics including Indigenous culture -Applied workshops on Canadian food, history and culture -Cultural Outings (Indigenous-led canoe tour, mountain hike, visiting art galleries, local markets and more.) -Meet Canadian students! You will be paired with a Douglas student as a pen-pal before arriving and several activities and outings will be held with Douglas students as well -Live with a Canadian family! You will be matched with a host family and have lots of opportunities to learn and practice your English -Airport pick-up and drop-off at the beginning and end of the program -Graduation celebration & dinner at the end of the program
