| About Us | One of Thailand’s oldest and most prestigious public universities, Mahidol University began life in 1888 as the medical school of Siriraj Hospital. In 1969 we were given the name Mahidol University, in honor of H.R.H. Prince Mahidol of Songkla, who is known as the Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health in Thailand. His higher education philosophy, “True success is not in the learning, but in its application to the benefit of mankind.” still guides our work today.
