Program Description The program offers Canadian scholars an interdisciplinary academic and research experience focused on addressing climate change challenges in Latin America. Participants will engage in coursework taught in English, hands-on research, and community projects, gaining a comprehensive understanding of climate adaptation and mitigation in one of the world’s most biodiverse countries. As part of the program, scholars will collaborate with two of EIA’s flagship research initiatives: the EnergEIA Research Group on Energy and Sustainability, which develops community-based renewable energy solutions for climate change mitigation, and the Poleka Kasué High-Mountain Ecosystem Monitoring Program, dedicated to studying tropical high-mountain ecosystems and promoting resilience in climate-vulnerable regions.

Teaching Language QES scholars will have access to a broad selection of courses taught in English across various disciplines. Additionally, scholars will take a 38-hour Spanish as a Second Language course to enhance cultural integration and local engagement.
