Program Information Program Name QES - Sustainability Pathways: Climate Adaptation Through Education and Research (QES Program 2026-27)
Program Type Program B
Program Description The program is an interdisciplinary initiative that brings together students, faculty, and researchers to explore climate change, resilience, and emotional responses to environmental crises through a blend of academic coursework and applied research. Grounded in Medellín’s local sustainability challenges and enriched by global perspectives, it integrates the Sustainable Development Pathway courses—open to all disciplines—with a research experience hosted by the Geosciences and Biodiversity Research Group (GeBi). Participants engage in scientific, social, and humanistic approaches to understand issues such as eco-anxiety and eco-hope, while developing innovative, culturally informed strategies that transform concern about climate change into constructive action. Canadian students collaborate with faculty to design research projects aligned with their backgrounds and interests, take part in creative methodologies inspired by the arts and humanities, and strengthen both their academic and intercultural competencies.
