Program A is an exchange program through which UMAP participating institutions send and receive up to two students with tuition waivers each semester.

Program B is a negotiated bilateral exchange between two institutions that have agreed to exchange more than two students per semester.

Programs A and B follow a timeline that has two application cycles. Programs that are open for application only during the early or First application cycle are marked with .

Programs that are open for application only during the late or Second application cycle are marked with .

Program C consists of short-term programs of one to eight-weeks, for which tuition may be charged.

Virtual Programs are offered entirely online and may include both short-term and semester-long programs.

QES-UMAP-ITS: Climate Change Adaptability Project Topic: Disaster and Climate Risk Resilience in Indonesia Program Overview This program is designed as a platform for eligible UMAP Canada member institutions to nominate Canadian and Permanent Resident students within the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship project entitled “Addressing Climate Change in Asia and the Pacific – Leveraging University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) for Action”. By participating in this program, students will develop a strong professional network with climate resilience experts, environmental organizations, and community leaders, equipping them for future careers in sustainability, environmental policy, and disaster management. Program Objectives Indonesia faces significant risks from climate-related disasters, including rising sea levels, extreme weather, and coastal erosion, which jeopardize local livelihoods and infrastructure. In this mobility program, students will not only attend regular classes (mandatory) but also participate in a community engagement project (co-curricular) and an internship program (mandatory) aimed at boosting disaster and climate risk resilience through community-based adaptation and capacity building. Participants will collaborate closely with local communities to evaluate climate vulnerabilities, develop localized adaptation strategies, and implement nature-based solutions. By combining scientific methods with indigenous knowledge, this initiative seeks to empower communities to build long-term resilience against climate-related hazards.

This course is intended to provide students understanding and applying the principle of population genetics and molecular techniques for animal conservation. The course covers three main topics: value of biodiversity, principle of genetics for animal conservation and genetic management of animals and captive propagation of animals. Students can explain, analyze, and present knowledge. Students explore case studies and fields illustrating the applicability of concepts in genetics to wildlife management. Students assist experienced field biologists and geneticists in collecting samples and then carry out the DNA extraction, amplification, sequencing, and bioinformatic analysis for species identification and basic genome assembly.
